It is one thing to talk about your commitments and another to act on them! So for Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer to receive awards for the pertinence and performance of our actions is great recognition for our vision and values. In 2022 our Resort received particular acknowledgement, both for the quality of our establishments and services and for our social and environmental commitments. It is with great pride that we share some of these success stories, commented on by Sophie Vincent and Pascal Camia, directors of human resources and operations at Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer respectively.
Again this year, our hotels, restaurants and casinos have shone on the international stage.
Chef Marcel Ravin was awarded a second Michelin star for the Blue Bay. “The chef has created his own culinary universe and with great talent has put his philosophy into practice. It makes us all the more proud that his passion and excellence were developed within the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer group,” comments Pascal Camia, director of operations.
At the Monte-Carlo Beach, our restaurant Elsa made it into the Gault&Millau and chef Mélanie Serre was awarded the “Grands de demain” trophy. This is a great sign of confidence in the chef who is implementing to perfection a new approach that gives pride of place to shorter supply chains and seasonal products. This award is particularly pertinent, says Pascal Camia, as “respect for the environment and produce is among the most intrinsic values of the Monte-Carlo Beach.”
Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris, an exquisite showcase of haute couture gastronomy, reached the 2022 podium of The List, a ranking of the world’s best restaurants.
More than ever this year, our 5-star hotels played their part in spreading the Resort’s reputation. Our guests named the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo among the best hotels in the Condé Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Award 2022 and Travel + Leisure’s 500 Best Hotels 2022.
The Casino de Monte-Carlo also won a flurry of awards and was voted “Best Casino Operator” at the International Gaming Awards 2022 and “Best Overall Casino” at the Casino Awards 2022 in London. For Pascal Camia, these awards “represent recognition for all the professionals at work there for having made it both an essential contemporary entertainment venue and a private setting for customised and personalised gaming.”
Excellence is embedded into the DNA of our activities at all of our establishments. It is also something that attracts and helps recruit candidates. “We are convinced that experience at Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer is always great experience, at any time in someone’s career,” says Sophie Vincent, the Group’s director of human resources. Attracting and recruiting talent is an important challenge for the resort, “as it is for all the world’s luxury establishments,” says Sophie Vincent. She sees the current situation as “an opportunity to review our processes and the way we approach recruitment. It is an opportunity to step back and reflect on the expectations of the new generation.” A generation that seeks meaning: “We need to give our recruits career prospects. Young people need to know why and for whom they are getting up in the morning.”
Excellence is also cultivated throughout employees’ careers. In their specific areas of work, of course, but also in management or change management: Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer offers a wide range of training courses for its employees throughout their careers to support them in their development.
Finally, the Group remains attentive to the wishes of its employees in terms of mobility. Increasingly, more bridges are being built between different establishments and training in new activities is being facilitated. The latter subject is of the utmost importance to Sophie Vincent: “Since Covid, many people have decided to finally do what they always wanted to do. We have some very good examples of this at the resort.”

For several years, our Resort has been acting to support sustainable development. Certifications and labels enable us to demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of our commitments. Again this year, our four hotels, the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo, the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo and our head office achieved Green Globe certification. The new One Monte-Carlo district, which is also BREEAM certified, joined the list this year.
The Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo, the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo and the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo participate in the Mr. Goodfish programme, dedicated to the sustainable and responsible consumption of seafood.
The Monte-Carlo Beach was awarded a Hotel & Lodge Award 2022 in the Green category. In addition, the majority of our restaurants offer the “My Gourmet Box” to combat food waste.
